Temple University´s Nonprofit Evaluation Services and Training Center (NEST) provides nonprofit organizations with an independent, research-based approach toward increasing program effectiveness and organizational capacity. Based in Temple University Harrisburg, the NEST serves Central Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas.

Temple NEST is designed to assist nonprofit and governmental human service agencies develop the capacity to effectively serve communities through best practices in management, research and training. This website is the Central Pennsylvania source for current, relevant and vital news for every nonprofit organization.

Target Local Store Grants – Funds for Children’s Arts and Reading Programs

Amount: $2,000

The Target Local Store Grants program supports nonprofit organizations in the communities where the company´s stores are located. Supports for two types of programs are available:

1. Arts, Culture + Design in Schools grants support programs that enhance students´ classroom curriculum by bringing the arts and cultural experiences to schools, such as in-school performances, artist in residency programs and workshops in schools.

2. Early Childhood Reading grants support programs that foster a love of reading and encourage young children, preschool through third grade, to read together with their families.

Grants Available from the Greater Harrisburg Foundation

Funder: The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC)
Deadline: May 7, 2012
Award amount: $2,500-$10,000

The Foundation for Enhancing Communities (TFEC) is pleased to announce the second grant opportunity in 2012 for local nonprofit agencies through the Greater Harrisburg Foundation. The Greater Harrisburg Foundation supports nonprofit organizations offering innovative programs in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lebanon, Perry counties, as well as the Dillsburg area of northern York County.

Prior to submitting an application, applicants are required to call Jessica Cavey, program officer for community investment, at 717-236-5040 to have a preliminary discussion about your project.

Program Offers Free Access to Temple University Libraries


Interested in an easy - and affordable - way of checking out books that could help you grow your nonprofit? You may be eligible for a free card that allows you to borrow books from several Temple University libraries, including the library at Temple University Harrisburg. Participants in the borrowing program can borrow books for four weeks with up to three renewals. The card also provides access to library computers that can be used for catalog searches. Videos and DVDs are not included in the borrowing program, nor is online access to full-text academic journal articles.

To participate in the borrowing program, you must be a full-time Pennsylvania resident age 18 or older and have a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania-issued driver´s license or non-driver´s ID. You also must have a valid e-mail address. Check out the documents below for more information and to see a card-application form.
