Temple´s Nonprofit Evaluation Services and Training Center provides nonprofit organizations with an independent, research-based approach toward increasing program effectiveness and organizational capacity. Based in Temple University Harrisburg, the NEST serves Central Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas.

The Temple NEST is designed to assist nonprofit and governmental human service agencies develop the capacity to effectively serve communities through best practices in management, research and training. This website is the Central Pennsylvania source for current, relevant and vital news for every nonprofit organization.

Open Meadows Foundation Offers Funding for Projects to Benefit Women and Children
Deadline: August 14, 2010

The Open Meadows Foundation supports projects that are led by and benefit women and girls, particularly those from vulnerable communities. Open Meadows offers grants of up to $2,000 for projects that are designed and implemented by women and girls; reflect the diversity of the community served by the project in both its leadership and organization; promote building community power; promote gender, racial, social, economic and/ or environmental justice; and have limited financial access or have encountered obstacles in their search for funding. The foundation funds projets that do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender identity and expression, sexual identity and expression, age or ability. Organizations interested in applying must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status, or a fiscal sponsor that is tax exempt. The applicant´s organizational budget should not exceed $150,000. Small and start-up organizations are strongly encouraged to apply. Proposals from organizations not previously funded have priority.

National Fatherhood Initiative
Deadline: July 30, 2010

$25,000 Capacity Building grants are now available. Expand your fatherhood program and increase your reach with these one-time $25,000 grants. With support from the US Department of Health and Human Services´ Office of Family Assistance, National Fatherhood Initiative announces the availablity of 25 awards, each in the amount of $25,000 for local community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, and other grass-roots fatherhood agencies.

FY10 Partnerships Active in Communities to Achieve Health Equity
Deadline: August 2, 2010

The purpose of the PAC Program is to improve health outcomes among racial and ethnic minorities through the establishment of community-based networks that employ evidence-based disease intervention strategies; address social determinants and environmental barriers to healthcare access; and increase access to and utilization of preventive health care, medical treatment, and supportive services. The PAC Program intends to demonstrate the effectiveness of community-based networks in improving health outcomes among racial and ethnic minorities. In FY 2010 the PAC Program will support collaborative arrangements among minority serving community-based organizations, community-based health care entities, and social and supportive service providers that coordinate the provision of chronic disease management, evidence-based prevention and intervention programs, healthcare, social, and support services.
